Asthma
In Ireland, 890,000 people will experience asthma at some point in their lives with 380,000 people currently afflicted with the condition. It’s an acute problem in County Wexford with poor air-quality in some of our towns causing breathing difficulties for people. Asthma is basically an allergic reaction that causes inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial tubes making it more difficult to get air into the lungs. The main symptoms of asthma include coughing, wheezing, breathlessness and a tight chest.
How can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy help asthma?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can significantly ease the symptoms of asthma. Not only does highly oxygenated-blood reduce swelling of the bronchial tubes, but also breathing-in pure oxygen helps patients restore the full supply of oxygen to their bodies and brain which can be reduced by a prolonged period of asthmatic inflammation.
Patients we’ve treated in our Hyperbaric Chamber have reported a huge reduction in breathing difficulties after just one session.
